Tulsa, Okla. —
Long before Monday's horrible quadruple murder at the Fairmont Terrace Apartments, the Tulsa City Council had been working to get approval for a state tax credit for a potential buyer of the complex.
"We have some people wanting to buy the project, so once that's approved, then they'll buy the Fairmont Terrace, put all the money in it, uprgrading it and improving the area and the situation," Patrick said. "And that's still in the process right now."
Hear entire interview w/Tulsa City Council Chairman David Patrick
Patrick says renovating and upgrading the complex could go a long way toward solving the persistent crime problem in the 61st and Peoria area.
"The people that own it could raise the rents and get a more preferred clientele in there," Patrick said. "Part of the problem when you get a lot of low-income housing in one area, it draws some criminal element in."
He said they should find out in March or April if the tax credit has been approved or not.
He says the potential new buyer probably won't go through with the purchase without it.
