Nestle admits to having horsemeat in some foods

Company blames meat supplier

By Rick Couri

The world’s largest food company has recalled beef pasta meals from two nations, Spain and Italy over the controversy.

The use of horse meat in food is legal in many parts of the world but the foods must be correctly labeled to show the ingredients. That was the problem for Nestle, not having the horse meat in the meals, it stems from not saying so on the label.

It was discovered via DNA tests that the meals contained over 1% horsemeat without saying so on the label.

Nestle blames the issue on a supplier in Germany.
