Neighbors hope gun sign deters criminals

TULSA, Okla. —

It's a sign of the times.

The sign reads Concealed Carry Neighborhood and it greets visitors to the Magic Circle neighborhood in east Tulsa.

Some residents of the working class area near 21st and Garnett have complained about a jump in burglaries and break-ins.

Mas Mitchell is lived in the same Magic Circle home for twelve years.

"I've had no problems but I've heard of some break-ins, but I've heard of nothing lately."

And as for that sign, Mitchell tells KRMG, "I am not against it because it's telling people I got one (a gun) and I'm willing to use it."

Mitchell says he's never considered moving out of safety concerns for his family or property.

He adds he is not a gun owner, but concedes that might change if things get worse.
