Tulsa, Okla. —

Senator Jim Inhofe wants more information about the Green Fleet exercise by the Navy in recent weeks.

He calls the $12 million spent for biofuels a misuse of military funds to promote President Obama's policies.

"This is his green agenda and he is using the military for his experimentation.  Frankly, this is why we have a Department of Energy.  They are the ones that are suppose to be doing it,” says Inhofe during a KRMG interview.

He tells us that money came from the Navy’s Operations and Maintenance fund and was a publicity stunt for President Obama at a time when the U.S. military is seeing drastic budget cuts.

"We can't tell you, really, how many millions of dollars that we are looking at out there but we know it is extremely expensive and it is one that is totally diverting money from defending America, from buying up armor for our kids, for doing things that have to be done to defend America just for his green agenda,” says Inhofe.

The Department of Defense says the exercise and program is about pursuing renewable fuels for national security, energy security and greenhouse gas reduction.

Inhofe tells us that the recent Green Fleet program is different than a program several years ago where the Department of Defense experimented with alternative fuels for military planes.
