A two-vehicle crash on Oklahoma Highway 20 near Will Rogers Downs in Claremore resulted in the death of one driver.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 67-year old Charlie Bird was leaving Will Rogers Downs at about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday when he pulled out from a stop sign to go eastbound on Highway 20 and was struck by a sport utility vehicle that was going in a westbound direction.

The SUV rolled at least once before it came to rest.

Gary Kruse with the News On 6 tells us the woman who was driving the SUV, Misty Kay Edwards-Matheso and her daughter who was a passenger, Beverlee Caraway, were transported by a private vehicle to a hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

Bird was pinned inside his vehicle for about thirty minutes until Tri-District firefighters could extricate him.

He was taken to a Claremore hospital where State Troopers say he was pronounced dead.
