Ashley Stanley was changing the baby’s diaper when suddenly ““I heard someone talking on the camera monitor.” At first, Ashley tried to make sense of what was happening. “Maybe my bosses were playing a trick on me or something,” she thought.
However, a call to the baby’s parents confirmed that wasn’t the case.
KPRC reports it was much more sinister. Someone had taken control of the camera and was watching her every move. "They kept telling me that it was a cute baby and 'wow, that is a poopy diaper,"' a rattled Stanley told KPRC.
She unplugged the device and ended the creepy situation.
Stanley told KHOU one thing kept going through her mind. "What pervert has been watching and not said anything?" And she extended that to the baby's mother. "Who's been watching quietly while, you know, her mom is in here breast-feeding her?"
Experts say hacking into even password-protected wi-fi and controlling cameras in a home is a growing crime. They say the best protection is a complicated password changed regularly.
Police do not have anyone in custody for the crime.
