TULSA, Okla. —

The Oklahoma Chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving is in full support of efforts to get people home safely if they've had too much to drink.

We spoke with MADD State Programs Director Loretts Denman who told us it's about being responsible and saving lives.

"We're not saying don't party or don't have a good time. We're just saying party responsibly and keep alcohol out of those hands that are under 21. That's it," she said.

The organization seeks to prevent alcohol-related deaths nation-wide. Denamn says the group is encouraging people to be safe locally.

"We just ask people to always designate a non-drinking driver before the celebrations begin. Never ride with a drunk driver."

There are several efforts in and around Tulsa to keep intoxicated people from getting behind the wheel New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, with free rides home.

"We totally support that. We ask them to take taxis. Use that program. Triple A (AAA) has a program. We're very receptive to all those and we think it's a good idea."
