It seems like a republican state representative in Georgia doesn’t think you’re smart enough to elect a Senator.

The group wants to revert back to having state assemblies pick senators as it was done prior to 1912.

GOP member Kevin Cooke is the bill’s sponsor, he calls it “a restoration of the Constitution." Cooke says taking the vote from the people and giving it to the legislature would help minimize government.  A statement that seems contradictory on its face.

Others think this is an attempt at a power grab and they predict the bill will fail.

Last year another republican, Sen. Jeff Flake of Arizona said the amendment should be repealed.

The states of New Hampshire and Tennessee have also seen something along these lines proposed but defeated.
