Last chance to opt out of EMSA fee

By Steve Berg

(Tulsa, OK) - Thursday, June 30th, is the last chance for Tulsans to opt out of the EMSA TotalCare fee.

Citizens are automatically enrolled in the program, which charges $3.64 to their water and sewer bill, unless they actively take the step to decline the program either by phone, by fax, online, or by sumitting the opt-out form in person.

Here's a link so you can access your City of Tulsa account online.

It's a process that has to be repeated each year, otherwise the person is automatically enrolled in the program, something that doesn't sit well with Tulsa City Councilor Bill Christiansen.

"I hoping to chance the ordinance so that once a person opts out, they don't have to opt out every year."

In Oklahoma City for example, if people opt out of the EMSA program, they stay out until they decide they want to enroll.

To opt out by phone, people should call the City of Tulsa's Utilities Services line at  (918) 596-9511.

The form also is available in the Second Floor Customer Service area of City Hall at One Technology Center, 175 East Second Street.
