Keep up with recruiting day 2013 here

See who signed and who got away

By Rick Couri

Today’s the day! High school football players across the country are making choices and college coaches are nervous.

It’s national signing day, causing fans to check their smart phones every minute for the latest news on who signed and who might have defected.

Reality will tell you that since none of these kids have played a single down in college maybe signing day is a little overdone but fans would disagree.

“This is the most important day of our year” Jim told KRMG news. “This is where the program grows and national championships are born” he went on.

Jim, who is a University of Oklahoma fan isn’t alone in that opinion.

“Without today there isn’t a tomorrow” Oklahoma State fan Phil blurted out. Phil rattled off the superstars who have been recent signees. “Justin Blackmon, Dez Bryant, Brandon Weeden, they all had to sign.”

Of course that’s true but some coaches across the country have maintained that too much pressure is put on not only the recruits but the coaches as well.

Some point to players like Tulsa’s Trey Watts as an example of the kinds of players who fool the “experts.”

Watts wasn’t recruited by any large schools and walked on at The University of Tulsa. It became apparent quickly that Watts was not only an athlete but a high level player. Watts was eventually put on scholarship and he is now one of Conference USA’s best running back and kick returners.

If you would like to keep up with the state schools you can do just that. Just click on the links below to be taken to the sites that will inform and entertain all day.
