Jobs report shows OK doing better than most of U.S.

Unemployment rate in OK at 5.2%

By Steve Berg and Kyla Campbell

Tulsa, Okla. —

The latest U.S. jobs report came out today.

And it shows Oklahoma is doing much better than the country as a whole.

The nation's unemployment rate stayed steady at 7.8 percent, after 155-thousand jobs were added last month.

But Oklahoma has one of the best rates in the country, at 5.2 percent.

The State Labor Department said there was job growth in Oklahoma in 6 of 11 different categories.

They said the biggest increase was in government jobs.

Economists expect a slow, but steady improvement for the U.S. in 2013, after 1.84 million jobs were added nationwide last year.
