January 2012 goes down as one of the warmest on record

By Glenn Schroeder

TULSA, Okla. —

If you thought this was the warmest January in Tulsa history, think again.

“January, 2006, is the warmest January on record,” said News on Six Meteorologist Dick Faurot.

Figures provided by the National Weather Service Office in Tulsa indicate the average January temperature in Tulsa in 2006 was 48.4 degrees.

This year the average through January 30th is 43.7 degrees.

Faurot says this January is one of the 10 warmest on record in Tulsa.

He adds it is the second warmest January in Tulsa this century.

February may not be so kind, however.

The average temperature last February was 38.6 degree in Tulsa.
