The investigation into a fatal three-car collision on December 6th shows a different driver, and reason, could be to blame.

Police in Sand Springs first thought the woman killed in the crash was responsible.

Cops on the scene at 41st near Highway 97 believed 43-year-old Nita Roden, of Tulsa, crossed the center line and hit an oncoming car.

Assistant Police Chief Mike Carter tells KRMG the final investigation reveals it was the oncoming car that hit Roden’s car.

Carter says 25-year-old Daniel Bryant, of Sand Springs, had just left work before he crossed over into Roden’s lane. He was going home because of an illness.

“I think a lot of times people will find blame on someone who was texting and the normal things.”

Julie Dicarlo, of Mannford, was also injured when unable to stop and crashed into one of the smashed cars.

Carter says the investigation took a while because there were so many clues.

“They even pulled data off the black box of one of those cars that it was available on and so it’s been a very extensive investigation and it just takes a while.”

Bryant survived, but his condition is unknown.

The District Attorney’s Office will determine whether criminal charges will be filed against Bryant.
