How safe is your family around Tulsa State Fair workers?

With the Tulsa State Fair getting underway we wondered about some of the people working the Fair.  Is your family safe around carnival workers?

The Tulsa County Sheriff's Department is in charge of security at the Fair.

We asked Sgt. Shannon Clark whether his department was checking into the background of carnival workers: “We don’t necessarily look into the backgrounds of the carnival workers.  That would be something that would have to be done by the employer.  And a lot of those people are employed by Murphy Brothers.”

Murphy Brothers Manager Cathy Murphy says they do criminal background checks on all new hires.

Murphy says those with a felony on their record won't be hired and “We don’t hire pedophiles or people who are wanted.”

Murphy says they also do random drug testing of their employees.
