House approves Keystone bill, pipeline route dispute settled

A bill authorizing the construction of the Keystone pipeline was easily approved in the U.S. House Friday.

This, just hours after the Nebraska Supreme Court threw out a lawsuit challenging the route of the pipeline.

The House approved the bill on a 266-153 vote, with 28 Democrats joining majority Republicans in voting for it. The Senate will consider the bill next week.

It may get through Congress, but the White House says President Obama still plans to veto the legislation. Even with the decision in Nebraska, which played a part in Obama’s opposition, the president’s plans haven’t changed.
