Hot temps and high fire danger blows into Tulsa

By April Hill

The National Weather Service issued a Fire Weather Watch in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening.

That includes Tulsa, Wagoner, Rogers, Pawnee, Creek, Mayes and Okmulgee counties.

Strong southwesterly surface winds will make temperatures surge into the 80s across much of eastern Oklahoma by Friday afternoon.

The gusty winds along with low afternoon humidity values will result in a very high wildfire threat.

Relative humidities are expected as low as 25 percent.

Southwest winds will gust as high as 35 m.p.h.

The purpose of a Fire Weather Watch is to alert everyone about the possibility for of wildfires.

Stay tuned to FM 102.3 and AM 740 Newstalk KRMG for the latest weather information.
