July 4th is a good time to remember our military members overseas.

The  45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team just left for Afghanistan and Africa.

It’s one of the biggest deployments in state history with 3,400 members of the National Guard.

This year, you can donate to those soldiers and others serving our country by dropping off donations to the Blue Star Mothers.

They started the donation drive Monday and will run through July 10th.

Kay Sleeper is a Blue Star Mother.

Her son is a Marine who returned from two tours in Iraq a little more than a year ago.

Sleeper tells KRMG, “I believe more people need to wake up and realize that we are still at war out there. We have a lot of sacrifices. Our young men and women have taken time out of there life that they didn’t have to save our country.”

The moms are also looking for businesses to accept donations.

If you are a business owner or need more information on the donation drive, you can call 918-599-9988.

The collection sites are at three Verizon stores.

They are at Tulsa Hills Shopping Center,  101st and Memorial, and 71st and Hwy. 169.
