You will be hearing a great deal about an effort to allow wine sales in grocery stores as 'Oklahomans for Modern Laws' tries to gather enough signatures to send it to a vote of the people.

But it does have opposition from groups like the Retail Liquor Association of Oklahoma.

"And want all retailers resent is that the Oklahomans for Modern Laws has never sat down and made an overture and said let's talk about this, what kind of time frame do you think is acceptable to make some really fundamental changes in our industry that consumers want,” says J.P. Richard, President of RLAO.

He tells KRMG he believes everyone that sells alcoholic beverages should have to play by the same rules and this initiative petition makes exceptions for larger stores.

"These folks want to let a grocery store have 6 licenses.  I am restricted to just one,” says Richard.

He adds before people can grab a bottle of wine at their grocery store, the state’s constitution has to be changed.
