A group calling itself "Oklahomans for Modern Laws" says it will soon launch an intitiative petition to change the state's constitution and allow the sale of wine and strong beer in stores.

Based in Oklahoma City, OML describes itself on its website as "an organization dedicated to giving Oklahomans the freedom to purchase wine in grocery stores."

The site goes on to say "this simple luxury is given to the citizens of many surrounding states and other competing states. Now is the time to join together to change our antiquated laws to make Oklahoma a better place to live."

The website offers a "show your support" link and a form which people can fill out if they want to receive periodic updates from the group.

KRMG spoke with a number of people about the issue Monday. Of about twenty adults questioned, only one was firmly opposed to the idea.

OML hopes to have the question put to a vote of the people during this year's election cycle.
