Washington, D.C. —

The local economy would take a big hit, and thousands of jobs will be lost in Oklahoma, if automatic federal spending cuts happen in January.

A study released today shows that two-million jobs would be lost nationwide, including about 73- hundred in Oklahoma.

The Aerospace Industry Assocation led by Marion Blakey commissioned the study and warns of another recession if Congress doesn't act to stave off the cuts.

"The cuts we're talking about are the equivalent of losing 175,000 a month, every month, for an entire year," Blakey said.

Most of the job losses would be in the federal workforce, manufacturing and construction.
