Fatal wreck on foggy Washington County road

Woman pulls into path of another vehicle
Victim trapped in vehicle for more than 20 minutes after accident.

By Michael Purdy

Washington County, Okla. —

A 69-year-old Bartlesville woman dies in a Washington County traffic accident Friday morning.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol tells KRMG it happened just before 9 a.m. on a county road about two miles South of Bartlesville.

Troopers say the conditions were extremely foggy, which might have been a factor.  Phylis Jackson pulled into the path of a pickup headed Westbound, causing the wreck.

Jackson was trapped in the car for more than 20 minutes before firefighters could get her free.  She died a few hours later at a Bartlesville hospital.

A mother and two children in the other vehicle weren't seriously injured.

Troopers are investigating the cause of the accident.
