Drunk teen sets up DUI checkpoint, pretends to be state trooper

You have to give the guy points for creativity and nerve.

Cops say 19-year-old Logan Shaulis was equipped with handcuffs (we don’t want to know,) a BB gun, a scanner, and road flares when he created his roadside ruse.

Sue Weimer told CentralPA.com, "we saw cop cars. We saw flares, we couldn't figure out what was going on."

Shaulis stopped at least one car in the usually quiet neighborhood. That driver told cops the teenager told her he was a state police trooper by the name of Steve Rogers.

Yes, that is the same name used by comic book hero Captain America. And the cherry on top, Shaulis himself was drunk.

Chief Randy Cox gave drivers tips on how to know if a DUI check is real. "You can see as many as 18 officers being required to be involved in a checkpoint," he noted.

District Judge Sandra Stevanus was not amused by the stunt. She sent Shaulis to jail with bond set at $50,000.
