Intersection torn up for repairs

Bixby drivers frustrated with Mingo road construction

By April Hill

BIXBY, Okla. —

An intersection is causing confusion for some drivers in Bixby.

It’s a major construction project near 111th and Mingo.

Crews with Tulsa County are replacing an old 48-inch pipe with a 10-by-6 concrete box.

Workers say they were hoping to have all of the work finished by Friday, but a few delays may mean it won’t be until Saturday.

The City of Bixby plans to begin a widening project through the area once the project is complete.

In the meantime, that means frustrated drivers and neighbors as cars look for ways to get around the construction.

Homeowner Jeff Shaffer tells FOX23, “They can’t go through on 111th and they have to go around and they’re finding out when they get to the intersection so they have to do a little U-turn around.”
