TULSA, Okla. —

There are just 41 days left in 2012 and, for many, that means a mad rush to the doctor’s office.

That’s certainly the case at Tulsa Eye Associates at 66th and S. Yale Ave in south Tulsa.

Dr. Meghan Shaiebly is an optometrist there.

She believes the main culprit is deductibles that start over January 1st and flexible spending accounts that expire at the end of the year.

Dr. Shaiebly says, "In addition to that, it is holiday time so some of the staff are taking vacation. Its just a bad combination of things."

Dr. Shaiebly says her office is trying to accomodate those last minute patients.

Shaiebly says, "Patients aren't seen in the office on those surgery days. So we'll try to come in after surgery and see patients, kind of add extra slots when we can."

Dr. Shaiebly tells KRMG that the best way to avoid the last-minute rush is to book months in advance, if possible.
