Another hot day

Triple digit temperatures will burn down on Green Country again Friday.

Another record was set Thursday in Tulsa. The temperature peaked at 112 degrees in the afternoon. That ties the daytime high record that was set in 2011.

The Excessive Heat Warning from the National Weather Service office in Tulsa is now extended until 7:00 Saturday night.

News On 6 Meteorologist Travis Meyer says, "It is not a pleasant sight, what we expect here as we have an excessive warning through tomorrow."

Firefighters have been battling wildfires and today the winds will increase.

Trav says, "A very high fire danger for a combination of both today and tomorrow with gustier south to southwest winds."

We do have slight chance for rain.

"Our chance of rain very slim at this point running at about 10 to 20%."

We have another chance for rain Saturday.

"We do have a system coming in sometime late Saturday afternoon around 4:00 to 8:00. That is not a very good system. But, it is something."

Trav says the rain may also keep the heat in Northeastern Oklahoma.

"Unfortunately that is helping also create a little bit more of what we call compressional heating which means temperatures near 110 or better, or worse, how every you look at, it again today and tomorrow.
