Tuesday's storms do little to break May drought in Tulsa

More storms are on the horizon tonight for Green Country

By April Hill

The recent rain hasn't done much for pulling us out of the drought.

Meteorologist Craig Sullivan with the National Weather Service says the most of the rainfall was to the south and west of Tulsa.

He says, "The heaviest amount was 1.4 inches in Ashland, which is in Pittsburg County."

In Tulsa, we didn't even get half of that.

"The heaviest in the Tulsa metro is like two miles southwest of Jenks at .55."

Sullivan tells KRMG we’re still several inches below the average for this time of year.

"Your average for May is about 51/2 inches in Tulsa."

We've barely got any rain so far and there's only one day left in May.

"Only .4 for the month of May, which would be on track for the driest May on record."

Sullivan says they are looking into the possibility of a tornado Tuesday night.

"There was a reported tornado west of the metro area, I think around Union City of Piedmont which is west or northwest of Oklahoma City."
