Cold snap keeps Tulsa temps freezing

By Steve Berg

Tulsa, Okla. —

Some icicles were still hanging around on Sunday well after Saturday's freezing rain, because the high temperatures never made it past 32.

Today's temperatures are doing a little bit better, hovering around the 34 degree mark.

But it will stay relatively cold for most of the week.

"Readings tomorrow in the 30's and start to push back into the 50's as we get toward the middle and latter part of the week," said National Weather Service meteorologist Steve Piltz.  "Near and a little bit above normal, but certainly not really warm like you might wish for after a big cold snap."

Sunday was not the coldest high temperatures for the season so far.

That honor goes to Christmas Day, when the high was only 31.

But even colder days and heavy snows are not out of the question for the rest of winter.

Piltz says February and even March have had some of Tulsa's heaviest snowfalls.
