TULSA, Okla. —

The next big round of "Fix Our Streets" projects will soon kick off in Tulsa, about 30 in all, which will mean more lane closures and orange barrels on the city's streets.

Lead Engineer of Transportation Design Doug Helt tells KRMG the projects will come out between December and June.

"This is the big push," Helt says.

Among the areas that will see construction are Memorial Drive from Admiral to E. 11th St., Yale Ave. from E. 21st to E. 31st St., Sheridan Ave. from E. 51st to E 61st, E. 101st St. from Harvard to Yale, and S. Yale Ave. from E. 101st St. to E. 111th St.

Helt says, where possible they will upgrade asphalt roadways to concrete, which is more durable.

The bidding prices right now are favorable for the city to make the updgrades, he says.

He admits that the city fell behind on maintenance, creating many of the problems they will now seek to fix.

"There has been probably a lot of maintenance neglected and now we have, through this package, we have the means to go out and fix these streets."

"So, progress as promised, here it really comes."
