Chance of storms, hail in Tulsa tonight

By Steve Berg

Tulsa, Okla. —

It's only a slight risk, but there's a chance of scattered thunderstorms across all of Northeastern Oklahoma this evening.

And you might want to put the car in the garage now if that's an option, because the main threat with the storms is hail.

"Very large hail actually, just given the instability, roughly two inches in diameter," said National Weather Service meteorologist Mike Lacy.

There's also the potential for heavy rainfall, but that aspect of the storms is welcome.

"We need some rain," Lacy said.  "We have not had much rain this month of May, so these kinds of patterns are when we can get our best rain in the summertime."

The main window for storms tonight is between 7:00 p.m. and midnight.
