BROKEN ARROW, Okla. —

A recent rash of fatal accidents in Broken Arrow has police urging neighbors to be alert.

So far this year, 13 people have been killed in a total of 12 accidents.

The most recent one was an auto/pedestrian accident Wednesday evening near Kenosha and Lynn Lane.

Broken Arrow Police Sgt. Ed Ferguson says that's a record. Ferguson says, "This year, in the City of Broken Arrow, we've actually exceeded our all-time record number number of traffic deaths. In our city, we've had 13 people die so far this year."

Ferguson urges everyone to be alert and avoid distractions, especially with the end of daylight saving time.

Ferguson tells KRMG that distracted drivers aren't the only culprit. Ferguson says, "We're all perfectly aware of the problems with distracted driving but we're also seeing a lot of pedestrians that are distracted while they are walking and that's created some issues too."
