Jim Bridenstine has landed a Navy jet on an aircraft carrier, how stressful can running for office be?

It turns out, not very.

“It’s actually been quite calm,” Bridenstine told KRMG news in a private room at his watch party Tuesday night.

Bridenstine was about to walk onstage and thank his supporters for his win in the race for the District One congressional race.

“We’ve done so much work in the last year and a half. We just went through a very tough primary and in that primary people found out who Jim Bridenstine was."

Bridenstine held over 63% of the vote just two hours after the polls had closed and those in the crowd were thrilled.

“We’ve found him to be a man of character and real integrity,” one supporter told us. “I think our leadership in this nation is crying out for that."

Bridenstine told KRMG that he needed to hit the ground running.

“Somebody told me 'you’re the dog and you just caught the bumper, now what are you gonna do,'” he laughed.

“The first thing we have to do is start assembling a team. We need to prepare next week to go to freshman orientation and things start right away so there’s no time to waste.”

As the presidential race went more and more toward President Obama, Bridenstine told us no matter who is in the oval office, he’ll represent Oklahoma as he knows it wants to be represented.

“I’d much rather serve under a President that has the same philosophy that I have."

Then Bridenstine looked up into the lights, thought for a moment and continued.

“The President, they’re going to want to go a very different direction and that actually makes our job easier” he noted.

Jim explained further.

“They’re going to be working for more government, more stimulus, more taxes, more regulations, more deficit, more debt and Obamacare. None of those things are the right thing for our country so that makes things more clear.”

Senator Jim Inhofe had the line of the night when he mentioned that Bridenstine had broken his hold on one account.

“For all the years I have been in the House and the Senate I have been the only one who was number one, a veteran and number two a pilot. He’s both a pilot and a veteran so I will now share that with him.”

Listen as Senator Inhofe shares his thoughts on election night.
