Alonzo Johnson is sentenced on Friday to life in prison

Murderer Alonzo Johnson sentenced.
Alonzo Johnson is convicted in the shooting death of Neal Sweeney.

By Michael Purdy

Tulsa, Okla. —

Tulsa District Judge Tom Gillert formally sentenced Alonzo Johnson to two life sentences Friday morning.

The judge's court clerk says Johnson's sentence will run consecutively.

This is in connection to a jury's verdict in December for the shooting death of 63-year-old Neal Sweeney.  Johnson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Sweeney was shot in September of 2008 at his marketing business.  A short time later he passed away.

Court records show Gillert did receive a letter from a female juror who said she voted with other jurors because they had all come to an unanimous decision.  Despite the letter, Gillert decided there was no basis to conduct a hearing regarding the jury.
