8th Annual Rose District Farmers’ Market opens for business

The rain didn't keep shoppers away for long on the opening day of the Rose District Farmer's Market.

Broken Arrow resident Sarah Smith has been waiting for the market to open all year.

"We've really missed it over the winter," Smith said. "And we just waited for the rain to stop before we came out."

New this year, individual approved vendors will be able to accept payments from customers participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Vendors accepting SNAP will have signs posted at their booths.

The market is located in the newly renovated Rose District at 418 S. Main Street.

Early crops such as spinach, kale, and leaf lettuces will be available as well as chicken, eggs, Amish bread, local honey and a variety of unique agricultural crafts.
