New shopping area bringing "Utica Square clientele to south Tulsa"

That’s what Steve Wright with the South Tulsa Development Group told KRMG news about the under construction shopping area called Vineyards on Memorial.

"We want to bring the Utica Square type clientele to south Tulsa because that's what we need out here, not 71st and Memorial" Steve said.

John Rupe Jr. is the builder, he agrees with the assessment and the goal “very high end for Tulsa.”

Standing in the construction area with both men John described the look of the development. “Tuscan or Italian style” he began.

“Clay tile roof, stucco, stone, lots of pavers, fireplace, fountains, real soft feel” he continued.

There will be 16 shops in the main area of the 106th and Memorial development with two restaurants attached there and sites for five or six more restaurants along the Memorial corridor.

Two eateries already signed up are The Wine Loft and Le Crepe Nanou, both New Orleans concepts.

The group will also build an office building on the southwest part of the land and purchased the tract to the south in hopes of adding an anchor tenant there.

The hope is to have the area finished and fully occupied by fall.
