Verizon loses customers to start 2017

Tulsa, Okla. — The year got off to a rough start for Verizon, which lost customers in the first quarter and saw profits drop by 20 percent.

Industry watchers had expected Verizon to gain more than 200,000 subscribers in the first quarter.

Instead, Business Insider says the company lost more than 300-thousand.

Verizon's stock took a 2.3 percent hit on the news.

T-Mobile and Sprint have been biting off pieces of Verizon's market share, despite the fact that Verizon is offering its unlimited data plans again.
