Valentine's Day is a celebration for couples and families alike, but let's face it: it's really for romantic relationships.
There are many gifts you can make or give to show someone how much you love them, whether they're simple or over the top.
But this list won't include any of that. If you want to have a happy Valentine's Day, do not treat your loved one with any of these things.
Dinner at a fast food restaurant
Or any budget restaurant, for that matter. If the menu has numbers, that's a bad sign. If they take coupons, that's also a bad sign. While promos at restaurants, like Waffle House and White Castle, may sound financially appealing, think again. You may as well tell your date they aren't worth spending money on to get fed.
Jewelry that comes in a ring-sized box
Really, this is just cruel. There's no way you can convince your significant other that there were no other boxes for that heart-shaped necklace. Don't mislead your sweetheart this way.
Creepy “tandem” items
This means mittens sewn together so you can hold hands, a blanket with four sleeves so you can snuggle and work at the same time, or a pillow for cuddling. There is nothing wrong with some affection, but you don't have to be fused together to show love.
Drug store assorted chocolates
Everyone has a budget, but there's no need to get knockoff chocolate when there are plenty of other cost-effective gifts out there. We know those chocolate boxes shaped like hearts are everywhere, but don’t be afraid to get creative.
Chocolate molded in the shape of your face
We said creative, but not too creative. For example, don’t shell out a bunch of money to give someone chocolate that looks like your face. It's creepy, and chocolate melts, goes stale and gets eaten. Not worth the investment on any level.
Anything that implies your significant other is less than perfect
We’re talking gym memberships, scales and shape wear. This is incredibly rude. Shouldn't you be with the one you love because you love them just the way they are? Unless you want to ruin a relationship, skip this gift and all the others on this list.
