Tulsa, Okla. — The website WalletHub has ranked the best places to be a nurse.
And there's no geographic pattern.
The best 5 are Wisconsin, New Mexico, Iowa, Texas, and Colorado.
The worst five are D.C., Hawaii, New York, Louisiana, and Alabama.
So it’s all over the map.
One major factor, of course, is salary, but that has to be weighed against cost of living, which is why Hawaii and New York took a hit in the rankings.
WalletHub also looked at things like the nurse-patient ratio, the number of hospitals and nursing homes, and which states will have the highest elderly populations in the next 15 years.
Oklahoma unfortunately ranks closer to the bottom than the top, coming in at 36.
