Young girl struck by hit and run driver

Tulsa police are hunting for the driver of a car that left the scene after hitting a young girl in west Tulsa.

The collision occurred about 11:45 a.m at the intersection of E. 41st Street and S. Union Avenue, just west of Highway 75.

Witnesses on the scene tell KRMG the girl was running across the street from west to east when she was hit by the northbound car.

Michelle Horne said she and her daughter, Tiffany, immediately pulled over to help the victim, who had barely managed to hobble back to the west side of the road.

Other drivers, she said, kept going, except for one man.

That included the driver of the car which hit the girl.

Police don't have much of a description, just a white car, possibly a Ford Taurus or a Toyota Corsica.

The driver continued northbound, but police don't have a direction of travel from there.

The girl went to St. Francis in stable condition with abrasions and possible fractures.

An officer told KRMG she should recover.
