TULSA, Okla. - Police are still working to determine who is responsible for Tulsa’s 25th homicide of the year.
Richard Parker was shot to death inside of a car outside the Tonight Inn and Suites near Admiral and Memorial.
FOX23 learned that the call to police came in an unusual way.
Officer Jason Hamm had just started his day and was responding to a car wreck in the same area as the motel. He said that on his way there a woman flagged him down from another car to get his attention.
“Usually when we get to our destination it wasn’t quite what the person had told us,” Hamm said.
But in this case, Hamm said it was exactly what he found when he arrived.
“I was driving west on Admiral. A car was coming up behind me,” Hamm said.
He thought the car was going to plow into his.
“Traffic was starting to back up and I didn’t have anywhere else to go so I pulled into the outside lane and that vehicle cut me off. She started laying on the horn and waving her hands,” Hamm said.
Hamm pulled over and the woman told him someone had been shot at the motel just down the street.
“There were people standing outside. You could tell everyone was panicked,” Hamm said.
Hamm found Parker shot to death inside an SUV. A woman was found in one of the motel rooms who was alive but also suffered a gunshot wound.
She was released from the hospital Sunday. Police are still trying to find the shooter.
