A woman was assaulted during a purse-snatching incident near 71st and Riverside early Tuesday.
We're told a man struck the woman after she refused to give him a cigarette outside a convenience store.
"Suspect then reached inside her car, grabbed her purse and tried to take it. She grabbed the purse and suspect then punched her in the face," Tulsa Police Corporal Brandon Disney said.
He tells us a police canine tracked the suspect for about a half-hour, but didn't find him.
The woman refused to be taken to the hospital and was treated at the scene by EMSA.
