Woman hit with metal pipe while escaping accused rapist

A woman tells officers she had to escape a man multiple times after he tried to rape her Thursday evening.

Tulsa police say they received the call around 7 p.m.

Jose Velasquez is accused of trying to force himself on the victim after she refused to have sex with him.  Police say he pulled her to the ground and began touching her in a sexual way, but she was able to escape his grasp and run.

The suspect attacked the victim with a metal pipe after she was able to escape his trailer near 47th and Mingo.  Police say he pinned her again, but she was once again able to escape.

So, he grabbed another metal object and struck the victim again.  This time, the woman got her hands on a knife to try and defend herself.

Police say the suspect grabbed the knife by the blade and took it away from her.  Still, this gave her an opportunity to run.

Officers interviewed the victim at the hospital and then searched the suspect's trailer.  Police say they found evidence at the trailer consistent with the victim's story.

There is no mugshot available for Velasquez because he's a hold for ICE.
