Willie Nelson announces concert for Texas blast victims

Nelson grew up near the town of West and still has a home about five miles north of the blast site in Abbott, Texas.

Before filming a CMT Crossroads special in Nashville the singer said he has fond memories of riding his bike between the cities and visiting friends there.

Willie confirmed he still has many friends in the area.
Willie said "our hearts and prayers go out to the people of West, there are a lot of our friends and loved ones and neighbors down there.”
Nelson continued “we talked to some of them and some of the made it out OK, and some of them didn't. But they're strong and they'll be back. It's one of those things you don't get over. But you will get through it."
Nelson tweeted via @willienelson "West has been in my backyard all my life," my heart is praying for the community that we call home."
The concert is in Austin on April 28th.
