Jeane Harrington stuck to her story, saying her husband Michael Gabel killed himself.
But cops never bought the explanation and now, three years after his death, they’ve charged her with murder.
In August of 2011 Harrington called police and told them she found Michael, dead on their couch. “I just got back from the store and it looks like my husband is deceased,” the 911 call began.
She told dispatchers Gabel had plastic wrap around his head when she found him. ABC 6 in Indianapolis reports Harrington also told police; “he got a letter from the Internal Revenue Service the other day wanting $17,000. And then the
following day, he got a letter from some collection company wanting $16,000. And tomorrow they’re supposed to sell our home at sheriff’s auction.” But the Lorain County, Indiana coroner report shows other issues.
Gabel had head injuries from being hit several times. There were also signs he had been shot with a stun gun before being asphyxiated. Harrington admitted she used the stun gun on her husband after they had a fight that morning.
Police think the woman used the stun gun to immobilize her husband, then hit several times in the head before wrapping his head in plastic.
Authorities confirmed they had been to the house on more than one occasion for domestic disturbances.
Harrington has been in jail since Friday. The couple’s 11 year old son has been placed with relatives.
