Wagoner County deputy gets fired

KRMG has been informed a deputy with the Wagoner County Sheriff's Office was fired this week.

This comes after an arrest warrant was issued for Corey Lakey who is accused of possessing a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

“I am extremely disappointed by the findings of the internal investigation,” said Sheriff Chris Elliott. “Lakey is innocent of the misdemeanor charges until proven guilty in a court of law, but the policy violations were enough to initially suspend, and ultimately terminate, a deputy who helped to ensure the safety of Wagoner County’s residents.

Lakey was hired back in February of 2015.  He had been suspended with pay back on Nov. 8 pending the investigation.
