VIDEO: Overnight rain floods 81st and Elwood

The rain is falling across a wide portion of Central and Eastern Oklahoma.

Flash flooding will be possible through this afternoon, since much of the region remains saturated from Tuesday night’s storm.

The area near 81st and Elwood started flooding early Friday morning.

That area, on the north side of Jones Riverside Airport, is a low lying area notorious for flooding.

Bob Bledsoe with the City of Tulsa says it’s way too expensive to fix.

The city has purchased all but one of the properties that flood.

Bledsoe tells KRMG that option was significantly cheaper that spending millions of dollars to fix the flooding problems.

A Flash Flood Watch is still in effect until 7:00 tonight.

The counties include Tulsa, Craig, Creek, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Mayes, Pawnee, Rogers and Washington.
