VIDEO: Demolition begins on Tulsa's historic Barnard Elementary 5 weeks after devastating fire

Demolition is underway at Barnard Elementary 5 weeks after a massive fire destroyed the historic school.

The building was most recently occupied by Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences. Students have been relocated to the former Sequoyah Elementary School for the remainder of the school year.

DT Specialized Services president David McAfee tells KRMG that it will take between 200 and 250 truckloads to remove all of the rubble.

If DT Specialized Services sounds familiar, it should. It is the same company that demolished the Camelot Hotel at I-44 and Peoria.

The demolition got underway Thursday morning and is expected to last about a month and a half.
