TULSA - Police have released the identity of a road worker run down and killed by an elderly driver Wednesday evening.
The wreck occurred just before 7:30 p.m. about four blocks west of the intersection of E. 51st St. and S. Memorial Ave.
A woman driving a black pickup truck westbound struck some orange construction barrels, then veered into the man who was working with them.
Police say he was dragged beneath her truck for approximately 25 feet.
She continued westbound another half mile or so before pulling over to the side of the road.
Police found her at that location and took her in for questioning.
The victim was transported in critical condition but died from his injuries.
Police identify him as Patrick J. Boyle, 59.
They have not released the identity or age of the driver.
Police say she told them she didn't realize she had hit a person, and thought she had just struck the barrels.
The District Attorney's Office will determine whether to file charges in the case.
