MUSKOGEE, Okla. - The bills will be there but the money to pay them won't be.
That's the dilemma facing countless veterans at the end of the month.
As of now, their VA checks won't be there.
KRMG caught up with Iraq war Chris Rende outside the VA facility in Muskogee. Rende says, "The doors are shut. That's not right."
Rende, like many other veterans, is upset. Rende says, "I'm angry knowing that we, the veterans, made a commitment to our country to serve and we don't get that reciprocated back to us from the government."
The Army veteran says he and his wife can get by for a while without his VA check since it isn't the couple's only source of income. He says other veterans aren't so lucky.
