Urban Outfitters to open in Midtown Tulsa

Urban Outfitters is moving to Oklahoma, and opening its first store here in Tulsa.

The 3340 S. Peoria Ave location will be a two-story, 9,000-square-foot store. It's scheduled to open in mid-February 2015, according to Henry Aberson of Aberson Development.

Urban Outfitters has several locations in Texas, Missouri, New Mexico and Colorado, but this is the first store in the Sooner state.

Although the company has not released details about the future store, a representative with Urban Outfitters confirmed that the store will be opening in the Tulsa area.

Aberson said he had been in contact with Urban Outfitters for seven years, working with three different groups of people trying to bring the retailer to Tulsa.

"They are ready, and we have found the location that is very urban like, and they love the area; they love the building," Aberson said.

The Tulsa location will be located in the same building that was previously The Ivey bar, next to the Ida Red Boutique on Peoria.

"It will be a full-line store. It's comparable to any of the major stores they have in the Southwest area, size-wise ... They are not putting some little, dinky store in Tulsa. They are excited about Tulsa," Aberson said. "This will expand the shopping choices on Peoria Avenue," Aberson added.

Urban Outfittes offers many different things from men and women's apparel, home accessories and even vinyl records. It has more than 130 stores in the United States, Europe and Canada.
