TULSA - A young Tulsa boy who police say was in the middle of the road early Wednesday and was hit by a car has died.
Police tell KRMG 9-year-old Ethan Lewis was pronounced dead shortly after 3:00 a.m. Thursday.
The accident happened just after 7:00 a.m. on Mowhawk Boulevard, just west of Highway 75.
TPD Capt. Steve Odom told KRMG at the scene that the 9-year-old boy and two siblings were walking westbound.
The siblings, a brother and sister, were on the shoulder of the road, but for reasons unknown, Ethan was walking in the middle of the lane of traffic.
Capt. Odom says there's no indication the driver did anything wrong; she and her passenger, whom family members identify as her 10-year-old son, were uninjured.
The driver's mother told KRMG the children all attend nearby Penn Elementary School, and that they walk along Mohawk to get to school.
